...if you use the Hornady 200 Gr. Superformance round. And now you have a 300 yard deer rifle that can be used during primitive season.

Nothing "primitive" about that round.

Great option, but I don't see how you're going to outfit it with an optic for that price.

Gander Mtn here in San Antonio has the T3 on sale for $599 this week.

Savage Model 11 Hog Hunter 308 (crappy stock but good enough out the box for 1/2"-1" MOA)$400, Sight Mark 4x14x44 $200, TPS XP Tactical 1pc 20MOA base (or similar steel base), $70 with rings of choice just make sure they clear the front iron sight and fit a picatinny rail system.

Next year when you finish deer hunting upgrade the stock to a Manners or HS Precision with DBM, and CDI metal to accept AICS mags.

Remington model 700 for $379.99 and a Nikon Monarch 2.5x10x42 for $330. You'll be a little over budget with tax and rings but it's worth it. If you can't go over $700 then look for a used setup. I picked up a like new Remington model 700 lss with a Nikon Monarch 4X16x42 for $850.00. The lss is nicer than the standard $379.99 sps.

Weatherby vanguard s2 .257 weatherby mag with a nikon scope. Pro staff or buckmasters. The gun is around $550 but if you shop around can probably get one cheaper. Good price for a gun that's guaranteed 1/2" moa. With that kind of accuracy you can shoot them in the head and never have to track them.
