Caught at Timbalier island. I was right there on Saturday! 
Eta: I was kinda hoping that runningTiger was the one who caught it.

the guys who get excited when a tagged fish is caught sound like the idiots who play the lottery who get excited when someone else wins.

According to Rad, looks like the one caught was released by the bridge!
I had considered taking the kayak out that way and working the surrounding marsh relentlessly until September- good thing I didn't, as that lil guy didn't stay in that area for long!

Upon further inspection, the tags look to be in different spots. . . looks like I will still be headed to Fourchon in the yak this weekend

they aren't giving anyone anything. they are making hundreds of thousands a year off anglers stupid enough to think they have a good chance at winning, when odds are really like 1 in 2000 or 3000.
just pool your money together with 1000 other anglers and you'll do better.

i agree! why do we waste room on the board for this stupid fish lottery? think if threads get started for this, the cca should start paying the site for advertising. pretty sure a few cca moles or friends of cca employees post here to drive the posters into a frenzy about the fish lotto.

I won a small prize from STAR last year- it was only $1500, but even so I could continue entering the STAR for the next 30 more years before breaking even.
Best way to hedge your bets is to fish from a kayak with a fly rod. That way, you can choose to enter your big trout into either the kayak, boat or fly fishing divisions!
And of course you still have a shot at the tagged reds too!

i won cobia/ling/lemon fish a few yrs ago. i'm ahead of CCA $-wise if that makes you feel better
