35 Whelen Comparison

So I got a CVA 35 Whelen for Christmas, basic package nothing special. My FIL bought a TC Modified 35 whelen this week. Its a pretty good looking gun but beside the barrel being about 4" longer and being fluted, is there any real difference in the two? Difference in price is about $500, just curious of what that consisted of. TIA
ETA: His is a Prohunter if that makes a difference

Nope. They will both group well. CVA is $500 dollars cheaper but it is not $500 less in performance.

So basically you are talking me out of trading it in and paying extra for the TC
I just didnt know if the barrel took some of the kick and improved accuracy any....

I have the CVA in stainless w camp stock. Doesn't kick as bad as the H&R. Don't know about the TC. My CVA groups well using Hornady ammo. Deadly round. Nothing I have shot has gone more than 40 yards with one exception that I gut shot.

does your cva go bang? If so... then it will do the same as the TC

Compared to a comparable non-fluted barrel, fluting a barrel decreases barrel weight and lessens barrel heating. Having a fluted barrel will lnot make the gun more accurate and may actually worsen recoil if the fluted barrel is lighter than the non-fluted barrel.
