223 round for deer hunting

I have Barnes VOR-TX 55 grain or Hornaday Super Performance Match 75 grain. Doing my research it's about 50/50. I'm leaning towards the Barnes bullet. Anyone have experience with either one?

I haven't looked it up, but the word Match makes me think FMJ or other like bullet designed for accuracy only without lethality in mind, which would not be good for hunting purposes.

I have shot a doe using Barnes 55 and it was awesome. Gonna move to the 70 grain Barnes this year and compare it to Black Hills mk262.

No matter the bullet you use, .223 is not what you (or anybody else) should be shooting deer with.

This nonsense needs to stop. Right bullet, a .223 will kill deer dead and do it well. I need to find the article about "deer calibers", some of you will benefit.
OP: they make cartridges specifically for larger game hunting in .223, use them.

My brother has a bolt action 223 for his kids to deer hunt with. His son 7 years old, has killed 3 deer with it and his daughter just killed a doe Saturday. They havent lost a deer.
223 is small but very capable of taking deer.

Sure, and a .22lr will kill a moose dead as a doorknob with the right bullet in the right place.
.223 is a shite caliber to deer hunt with. Absolutely horrible.

.243 Winchester was considered "too small" for deer by some not all that long ago. Same advances in bullet technology that has benefited 9mm also seems to work for small rifle bullets too.

Not my weapon of choice, but I make sure to invest in a capable cartridge when I take it hog hunting, in the event I get an opportunity at a deer.

Maybe back when Soviet Russia nukes were a threat and you practiced hiding under your school desk, times change though.

There are 20 calibers I would rather shoot at a deer other than a 223.
I would never considered shooting anything less than 100 grains.

No, they haven't. It's still a .223 and deer are still the same size as they were then.
There is no logical reason to deer hunt with such a caliber that gives you so little margin for error, other than that's all you've got and you can't afford another rifle in a more capable caliber.

So is 9mm and yet changes happened. Science won out over unsupportable myths on "stopping power".
Plenty of reasons now and bullet selection is one of them.

Can you tell me one advantage to hunting deer with a 223 over a .270, .30-06, 7mm-08, 30-30, or even a .243?

Barnes 70gr.
We all shoot.300 blackout Barnes 110 gr. 75-100 yards max shot.

Recoil and ergonomics of the AR rifle platform. I plan on using .300 black out in the woods this year.

The Barnes listed is good.
A 64gr PowerPoint or 62gr fusion would be a good bullet as well.

Lighter weight, lower-recoil, flat shooting, and (if using an AR platform) better ergonomics and a more compact package for a given barrel length.
