What are y’all floating this season? On the 20th I’ll have a dozen mallards and half dozen blue wings in the old fish hook pattern. My after Christmas spread will be mostly coots in a double O pattern, just to shake up stale birds.

800-1000 Flambeaus at the pits. A couple
dozen Dakotas in the woods.

In the woods it'll be the same dozen or so spread around. After Christmas we try to put drakes with hens in little pairs spread around the main decoy bunch. Don't really know if that makes a difference or not.

In our field blind we do the typical U shape facing away from the blind early season and late we just spread them out with a thin spot in front of the blind, or what ever seems to be working at the time.

It ain't what you float, it's what you sink.

150 lbs of sweet potatoes should do the trick.

Exactly what I do. I’ve never believed in the shapes. I’ve heard people complain about it and say “oh they too close together”. Go look at wild ducks. They all over.

Coots, blue wing teal, greys, and maybe some pintail drakes for the white.

In an opening in flooded timber. 4 dozen mallard decoys. One larger pod in a fish hook pattern One random smaller pod separated from the larger pod.
Both pods creating open water in front of the boat except for a couple of drake/hen pairs on a jerk string. My state does not allow motion decoys of any kind except for those on a jerk string.

It’s a deadly setup.

I’m running a mix of 20 year and of flambeaus, some 10 year old GHG, and a bunch a strays I’ve claimed over the years. Everything from Texas rigs to old tire weights and spark plugs to weigh em down.

Avian X grays mostly, few pins for show. Quit putting out teal these days, they just dont show from distance and teal will decoy to milk jugs. Pintail/"gray" feeder butts mixed in.

gonna stack next weekend..........maybe

there is a bag of 2 liter bottles painted black with decoy weights tied to the necks at the camp. We always send the kids out with them, it’s tradition

The black jugs work in the fog, even the gadwall will make a second pass.

I’ve killed a ton over jugs on catahoula back in the day. Best thing about them, is they move with the slightest breeze.

Just pulled mine out the shed this morning. G&H and avian x greys, wigeon GW teal and pintail. Mojos are all running. Probably should take all the sweet potatoes in shed and put them out instead.
