My dash cracked, speakers went out, had water in the door from rain, oil pan needed to be resealed.
Typical GM problems. The duramax/Allison combo is the most reliable combo out there. The truck will run for 10+ years of you can keep the rest of the truck from falling apart around it.

Sounds like you guys should buy Toyota's unless you really have to have HD's.

Just let my 06 Duramax go about three months ago. 332,000 miles and the engine/ tranny never missed a beat. As others have said repairs were mostly nick nack shite- fuel filter housing, electric motor on the passenger side tow mirror, cosmetic shite. The biggest problem I had was a cracked weld on the rear axle. I ran the truck for five years with the resulting leak. Had that not happened Id still be in that truck. I pulled horse trailers, hay trailers, boats and tractors most every weekend. Cannot say enough good about the Duramax/Allison combo.

I have a '16 duramax, have had two 6.7 powerstrokes and also an '07 duramax. The 16 is my favorite by far. The fords were both unreliable--left me stranded frequently with exhaust sensor issues. '07 dmax never went in the shop for a single thing. The new dmax's are incredible.

If you want to cruise around town with comfort in a diesel than a duramax/allison is a good option. If you want to use a diesel for it's intended purpose, go get a 6.7 Ford. The 6.7L will go down as the best diesel platform for a medium/large duty truck ever built. And your window motors, speakers, rear ends, etc. will work as advertised

It's actually the exact opposite. Believe me. I've had two if each. The ford rides WAY smoother, but those soft springs make it squat with a load and they tow like a damn 1/2 ton. The dmax is stiffer around town but handles tongue weight much better.

Deltadoc, this thread could and seems to be going either way. They've always had the best transmission out there and the engine isn't to shabby. That's never been the complaints from my experience besides a few farmers who haul crazy heavy equipment (nothing out of the Recommeneded max tow) on a reg basis. It's always been the design being shitty and really the entire truck being cheap. Aggravating shite like cracked dashes, guige clusters, poorly sealed windows, bearing, and the list goes on. I think that you know the answer to purchasing one but hey, if your a Chevy guy you should be used to it. good luck

You have that 100% backwards.

The 5.9 Cummins says hi.
ETA: As does the 7.3 Powerstroke.

I've pulled my instrument cluster, replaced the stepper motors bought off of eBay, and it went very well. I referenced a YouTube vid and removal and replacement was easy and fast. Low wattage solder pen is the way to go!

I've owned Chevy's before...it seems that they have had issues going back to the 1990s with power windows, tailgate handles, dash boards, etc. But, you still see a lot of Chevy's on the road, even 25 year old trucks.
I am actually a toyota guy, but I need something bigger to tow a tractor and a boat.
When it comes down to it, I want a truck that looks good to me too. The redneck in me wants to buy the 2500, through a level kit and some Toyo MTs and call it a day. They are good looking trucks IMO.

So what can a man expect to pay for one of these 2016 HD's Duramax 4x4, out the door?? Thanks, I'm just curious.

That said, I am not interested in a Dodge and I am not interested in a first run 2017 F250 because of the issues that normally accompany year one productions.
I am looking at a 2016 Chevy 2500 HD LTZ.
Does anyone have any experience with this truck, the Duramax and the Allison tranmission? Good/Bad...whatever. I'd just like to get to OT wisdom on the topic.
Thanks!
If you don't want the 2017 Ford F250, buy the 2016 Ford F250. Either way, buy the Ford F250.

I've had a 99 Chevy, 03 Ford, and an 09 Chevy. The only one that gave me any problems was the Ford. Power windows would only go up if i got the truck up to 5k RPMS
My Chevy now has been flawless. knock on wood

I've got a quote for mid 50s for an LTZ

Another thing to keep in mind is that all these problems you are hearing about with the cracked dashes and window motors etc. are with the older body style and older interior. Hopefully they have made changes.
