I have an 06 F150 lariat 2wd. 84k miles. Driving it yesterday and there was a slip for about a mili-second. Happened once on my way to work this morning as well. Anyone have any issues like this? Is there a simple solution or am i about to be out 2k for a new transmission? TIA

I have a 2012 F-150 xlt and it has done this from 1st to 2nd gear since I bought the truck in 2013. I didn't notice it for the first few months. I've already brought it to Ford twice and it magically doesn't happen once they have my truck and drive it around. "We're not sure what you're talking about sir". It literally does it every single time I start my truck and begin to drive off. It's not just a slip either, it's a violent jerk. I've started a thread on here about it already, and if you use the google you will see this has always been a problem with Ford, so of course Ford will have no idea what youre talking about and pretend like nothing is wrong.

that sucks, man. this isn't a violent jerk as much as it is a feeling that the transmission "goes out" for a split second, then hooks back up and does fine.

get a transmission service immediately. Have mechanic drop pan, replace filter and put full synthetic

Mine is a 2009 with 145,000 miles. It's done it for years. I've learned not to give it a lot of gas, "baby it", as it transitions between 1st and 2nd. It smooths it out.

As you'll hear, there isn't a "fix". You have to learn to drive it and not tear it up. If someone else drove my truck, the transmission would be torn up in a week. I'd book that bet all day.

I've tried all kinds of things. I've let it idle and barely nudge the gas at all from 1st to 2nd and it still slips violently.

I have a 2007 with 184,000 miles on it and mine does the same thing. It has been doing it for about 3-4 years now. I just let off the gas when I feel it coming and then it smooths out. The biggest down side is it's a lot harder to do when I am towing anything.

Have you ever changed your spark plugs?

You might think its your transmission but your plugs could be misfiring

I have an 06 2wd with the baby 8, with 135k miles and it's done the exact same thing ever since I bought it new. Damn slush boxes.

I'd try one of two things,

First, would be like what another user posted and drop the transpan, change filter, gasket, and fluid that came out. Only downside is your not gonna get all the fluid out of it.

Second, get your trans flushed but not just with any flush product. Try finding a place that uses BG product and has a flush machine there. It's a two part cleaning kit they run through your transmission while flushing it. Have good feedback on doing these. If your in BR area, let me know and I can rec some shops that do it. Your trans holds 14 quarts of fluid which is a good bit so I would opt this route.

I'm no mechanic by any means, but I drove an 06 F-150 until last week, and had the same issues the last few years with it. I think it's more of a 'power pack/spark plug' issue than transmission issue.

Definitely could be that. You can either run it until the CE light comes on so you know what cylinder is misfiring or see if your dealer or whomever can run a power balance test on the cylinders to see if one if slipping down.

Interesting theory. Did you ever have the plugs changed? They are a gigantic pain in the arse to change, thanks Ford. Wonder if this issue is commonplace because no one has had the plugs changed.

I believe it is from the slip yoke. Re-grease it

there isnt a clunk. it's just a loss of acceleration for a split second, like im in neutral for .000001 seconds then starts going again. no problems when shifting, only when cruising.

i'm honestly shocked at the amount of stupid arse suggestions in this thread. You clearly stated what it is doing in your OP and you have posters suggesting spark plugs and slip yolks

Eh, I just read "F150 transmission". Didn't take my meds this morning, so I just jump around. Both of my buddy's and my dad's trucks all clunked and slipped when cold. I just told them to flush and refill with Amsoil, get Ford to grease the slip yoke, and they have been behaving much better from what I've heard.

My recent misfires felt like the tranny was slipping. Found out #1 was pretty much dead half of the time. 2, 5, and 7 were also missing frequently at idle, so take-off felt like a slip.

That's the third #5 coil pack in 40k miles
