I chose to try the maceration method (soak in water until the meat falls off) in a 5 gallon bucket.
1. Clean off as much hide/meat as possible with a knife
2. Place in a 5 gallon bucket of water and wrap the horns to keep the water off them. I used cling wrap and tape. Was not perfect but got the job done.
3. The smell gets pretty bad so I placed a trash bag over the horns and bucket to contain the smell.
4. Replace the water every couple of weeks
5. After 2 months I sprayed with a high powered nozzle and scraped off a few pieces that would not break loose
This process took 2 months but is very easy and I think it looks pretty good. I like the natural color of the skull so I did not paint it. I may put it on a piece of wood so I can hang it up. Hope this helps someone out!

I like it. Was the messed up point already like that?

Yes, it was already like that

2 months! Wow, I can imagine the stank. Me I boil outside in a stock pot until the hide and flesh pulls off. Shake the brains out, flush and hang to dry. Don't submerge the horns though. 1 to 2 day process.

The bucket of goo gets pretty ripe. It could cause one to yak sometimes! End result looks great though!

I usually double wrap them in black garbage bags and let the maggots to the work. with just one head, he smell can get horrible at times.
this year I have 5 at one time behind my house. I let them run their course, but I swore the whole time that I wont do it again.
