Russia was banned from the Olympics due to doping

They renamed it Russian Olympic Committee, and are now able to compete. Can someone explain?

I thought their athletes were supposed to be competing as individuals, not as a team. Hence no flag and no anthem if they win gold. Apparently that’s not the case. They have an ROC team competing in the team figure skating event.

For the Summer Games, they competed as “OAR” , Olympic Athletes from Russia. The flag they competed under was the plain Olympic flag. Now, it’s ROC and the flag looks like a Russian Flag. bullshite.

Technically, they are banned through Dec of this year.
As to others, they have a limited number of athletes competing as ROC compared to their normal allotment. Also, these athletes must go through a much much tougher testing regiment than other athletes. Russia will also not be recognized for any medals or records set.

Russia proposed to play Katyusha song and was rejected by IOC.

They stopped that because That Was A Crazy Game of Poker was too long during the medal ceremonies.

I was hoping they'd call themselves "Totally Not Russia" just to highlight the absurdity if it all. It's also absurd that they police doping while letting dudes compete as chicks.

Right it was not Russia but everyone knew it was Russia. It was kinda stupid but hey that is what you get when they have to pretend to punish Russia.

I suggest watching the documentary Icarus. It's on Netflix right now. Very good documentary. It will open your eyes to doping. Not just Olympic level. In every sport.

Russia has been doping it's Olympic athletes since the 60's. Every single Olympics they've competed in their athletes were doping. I'm sure China is as well.
