BP screwed up no doubt, but it Obama's job to protect this country. He has failed miserably and he deserves all the blame for the cleanup. For us to be 70 days into this mess and still have oil going into our marsh and beaches is unbelievable in this country. He is a joke and a crook. We have equipment all over the world sitting that could contain the oil and it is sitting in docks all over the world. What has happened to this country. For him to allow equipment to be sitting is all on him, not BP. Ten days into this thing he should have told BP cap the well and we will clean it up and send you the bill. I am not sure what is going on but there is criminal activity going on. BP will continue to cut cost until he says get out the way. What the fck is he waiting on.

It's not all on Obama. And this problem is bigger than BP and the state of LA. Lots of mistakes made by everyone involved.

If a Murphy truck overturns on I-10 and spills it's load. Who cleans up? Murphy, or Hazmat? Our state and federal government should have some sort of coastal hazmat agency.

What's so difficult about this concept to understand?

Are you kidding me, whats difference between people busting bush's arse over Katrina and this.
If Bush was doing this they would be raking him over the coals. Its the presidents job to protect this country at all cost and he has done nothing except try and push his bullshite agenda. He is a joke, this oil could have been contained way before it got to shore and he did nothing. Now the waves are washing all the oil up everywhere because of ALEX. Obama deserves to be impeached over his lack of action in this disaster.

This.

In the early days of this disaster all I heard was that the federal government didn't have the expertise to stop or even contain this leak. NOW Obama is an expert on deep sea drilling.

I see the whole lack of response by the Feds as just a look into how our government really works. An organization that has grown so large and cumbersome it is so mired in rule n reguations it can't function. One part works against itself. Timely effective response is impossible.

Obama is an expert on nothing that is obvious. There is equipment all over the world that could have contained this spill, that is a fact. His agenda has everything to do with him not cutting these vessels loose to come contain the spill. This spill is a tragedy this is true, but his response his irresponsible and criminal. His loyalty to Unions has kept him from undoing the jones act, he is the leader of this country that has become the laughing stock of the world in 18 months. 4 and 5 generation fishermans lives are ruined because of this arrogant crook.

What a load of bullshite.

These people spend most of the time telling Washington, D.C. that "we don't need you, we can take care of ourselves, thank you very much." But yet, here we are yelling," why isn't Washington, D.C. doing anything? Slow to respond! Hep me! Hep me!"

Total fricking bullshite.

Make up your fricking minds.

We would be glad to take care of our own shite, unfortunately the government has a million miles of red tape we need to trudge through before we get squat done. I bet most people down here would be satisfied if the government gave us a couple billion, and then just let us do our thing. They could get the hell out of the way in regards to letting us build the berms and jetties as we want, not how some pencil pusher in D.C. would like us to do it, and plus we wouldn't have to wait 4 weeks to get approval for things.

This

Instead of personalizing it (and I am no BHO fan), this is a much more accurate portrayal of the problems. I am beginning to doubt that the POTUS can even cut through all the red tape our government has created.

BS......he has the power to do just about anything, especially if he gets congress/senate on board. This is an emergency situation and tough/quick decisions need to be made. We can't afford to sit for weeks to wait for some pencil pushers to approve something.

No Sir, the total bullshite is your ignoring of obstacles and roadblocks established by the DC "Know it Alls" that have constantly kept local response hog tied. We are not asking for DC to fix this, we are asking DC to get the $%U#Y# out of our way so we can do the things necessary to fix the problem. THIS is the DC we have never had a use for, that won't let us fix it ourselves, no thanks necessary. C'mon, quit flaming and get on the team here -

During the last 45-60 days, Our Gov, and Parish Presidents have been trying to get the Feds out of the way in order to handle this. Yet BP will not grant access, has set up marine blockades with the assistance of the USCG, and has constantly misled the local community (with the assistance of both the Dept. of Interior and DOE) as to the severity of the incident. Holding skimming barges at dock because there were not enough port o lets on board is just one example. Do local authorities hold emergency response personnel at fire stations because OSHA has not had a chance to approve the number of operational toilets with the response area? Give me a break. The anointed one and the rest of DC has yet to understand the dire "emergency" created by BP, and continues to operate with cranium anal insertion overload. Almost every effort made by outside contractors or State/Local Gov't is met with so much red tape or regulatory oversight that nothing is being accomplished.

The cries for help are not come fix the leak and clean it up, they are for someone with authority to get down here to streamline the approval procedures, getting all of the "bullshite" as you say out of the way so something can be accomplished.

Those Sir,are the "Cries" you are hearing, which are not "bullshite".

He has the ability to ignore the law and have Salazar initiate an unlawful moratorium on offshore drilling - He has the ability to hold a gun to the head of BP's Chairman demanding a $20Billion escrow fund, but does not have the ability to demand the USDOE, MMS, USCG, OHS, and other gov't agencies to cut thru the red tape?

The problem is not the ABILITY, but the WANT or DESIRE. His Chief of Staff's favorite comment is Never let a Disaster go to waste. We have not politicized the discussion, POTUS' inaction has -
