Your opinion on cousin marriages

Just last night, I found out that a woman I knew back in HS just recently married her first cousin. Both me and my wife know the person, not personally, more like an acquaintance, we hung out around the same people that she did. Anyway, from what I've read cousin marriages aren't allowed in Louisiana (correct if I'm wrong), so I don't know where they could've gotten married.
I know for certain she took a lot of static from some of her family members and friends when she posted about it on FB. I know there's always been a stigma surrounding this subject, but for me, I don't really care one way or another, if he makes her happy, so be it.
What are your thoughts on this subject?
9 famous people who married their cousins...
---------------------------------------------
- Rudy Giuliani married his first cousin Regina Peruggi in 1968 divorced 14 years later.
- Edgar Allan Poe married his first cousin, Virginia Eliza Clemm.
- H.G. Wells married his first cousin, Isabel Mary Wells in 1891, divorced 3 years later.
- Saddam Hussein married his first cousin, Sajida Talfah, whom he married in 1963.
- Charles Darwin married his first cousin Emma Wedgwood.
- Albert Einstein married his first cousin, Elsa Lowenthal in 1919.
- Jerry Lee Lewis married his first cousin, Myra Williams.
- Greta Scacchi was once married to her cousin, Vincent D’Onofrio
- Kevin Bacon married his 9th cousin, Kyra Sedgwick.
- Jesse James. The notorious outlaw fell in love with and married his first cousin Zerelda “Zee” Mimms.

The people who married their first cousins have in-laws that are more closely related than this.

Roll Tide
Full disclosure. When I was a teenager I had a smoking hot cousin that would come to visit that I wanted to bang badly. So in short banging ok, marriage not ok.

First cousins... that's fricked up.
Now your Aunt and Uncle are also your in-laws?
That's weird... way too close.
I'm also close to most of my first cousins, though.

Are you sure Darwin wasn't just doing research?

I bet about 20% of the people on this board are direct descendants from 1st or 2nd cousins marrying.
personally I don't see a problem.
I don't have any hot cousins though.

Hasn't it been shown that offspring by first cousins having physical or mental deformities is bullshite?

sex is just a tee bit better but still not as good as sibling sex.

My first cousin used to be a smokeshow. Then she became morbidly obese. Glad I didn't marry her

It's a good way to have kids with genetic defects.

SCOTUS has pretty much ruled any 2 people can get married. Now in today's legal climate, and the tax penalty to boot, why any man marries legally (as in licensed, contract law) makes me wonder.
ETA: How long till humans get to marry multiples and/or animals/inanimate objects?
