So I have known my BIL for 40 years and recently helped my MIL with her mineral lease. I got her more money up front and more royalties.

She is 80 yo and decided it was time to put a will together. She had her will done by a third party. My wife and I had nothing to do with it. Since BIL is not and executor or power of attorney BIL is throwing a fit talking shite bla bla bla.

Over the years I have bailed his arse out of jail, put my house up as bond for him, got his step son a $100k job in the oilfield, kept his 6 yo son for 9 months when he was away working and more.

All this shite is going down as I speak, all I can do is drink more beer and listen to the wife.

They say you can pick your friend but not your family and I guess that's right.

Comments from the OT...no pics of wife or MIL.

No, I don't. Don't EVER think you know someone.

Every time someone walks into a McDonalds and opens fire the neighbors invariably say, "He was so quiet and such a nice person."

Family fighting over money brings out the worst in many folks.

When she dies... You won't see him again except in court.

Dealing with trash like that myself.

I dread the day that it comes down to having to take part in this.

I'm willing to walk away if it keeps me from becoming enemies. Of course I would never see them the same way and would probably cut off communication out of lack of respect.

I guess it's the fact that he is saying my wife and I are trying to take MIL's cash, (which there ain't much of). He's just an a-hole, but what is new. Am just venting to the OT I suppose.

She should not have made the contents of the will public to you all.

Correct, MIL wanted the children to read and "approve" that's where it went south. MIL made 2 daughters power of attorney and he wasn't. Probably cause she doesn't think he is a good choice...duh ya think?

Sounds like you knew exactly who he was and should not be surprised by this.
