And this is why I have always and will always hate Blue.

quote:

Fultondale sophomore Lindsey Harris was in no hurry to get off the bag. She believed, after all, she had every right to be standing on first base in the bottom of the fifth inning on Thursday night in Adamsville. Harris had just legged out an infield single in a road game at Minor when an umpire made a rather questionable call. Watch the video, which was shot by Kristi Jennings. You be the judge.

In the comments on twitter someone says she left the batters box before hitting. This is illegal in softball and she is out.

my guess is that it was some stupid game rule that you could only hit through the lineup one time per inning. she, being the 9th batter of the inning, was automatically considered out regardless of the outcome

Well, not only was that a piss poor job by the infield ump, but the ump at home should've overruled him.

ETA: nevermind. Seems to be some other issue. I guess I should've known it was a one sided story since it came from social media

Why didn't they show the ump the video? Person could have walked onto the field and shown it to him

Doesn't matter. What was she doing out of the kitchen?

Looks like she had a running start out of the batters box. Think that is illegal.

Don't know the rules of softball though. Maybe that is allowed.

Would be nice to see 10 seconds after that to see if the ump on 1st was looking or pointed towards home.

That's just retards trying to sound smart. The home plate ump would make that call. Not 1st base. Also the ump would have given a different signal for a call like that. The ump was watching the base and was making a normal safe/out call.

It's a varsity high school game from what I saw in the comments section on FB. I have a friend from that area and he linked it. From what I gather from all the comments. This s an ongoing problem at that particular school whenever that ump on the field is calling the game. I can't personally say one way or the other.

She was running before she ever swung. That's an out.

You're not safe if you beat the throw. You're safe if the umpire calls you safe.

That's an out
