Do you ever find yourself out somewhere, and you see someone you think you recognize, but you’re not sure? Then you think about it and say, “Wait, I know that person, I had a math class with them in high school 20 years ago.” Do you approach the person and see if they remember you, or do you just pass them on by? Or how often are you approached by someone that claims they remember you, but you don’t remember them?

Happens to me a decent bit, I went to a decent size middle school and high school. I would say about half the time I am remembered, so not too bad.

At a social function I might introduce myself but at, say, the grocery store I probably wouldn't.

That’s an irrational fear of mine. It happens occasionally, and I used to not know how to react.

I’ve learned to take the offensive and go say “hi”. That puts the impetus on them to recognize me or not. Almost everyone recognizes and remembers me.

I have one come through my office from time to time. They've all gotten old. Thankfully I haven't changed.

Just saw an old classmate at Kroger the other day. Wild reading this thread. Hadn’t seen him in like 20+ years

Yep, sometimes I even put it in reverse and back over them.

Unfortunately yes, one rear ended me at a stoplight in Dallas some years ago

Happened to me a few months ago. I was at a brewery with another friend from high school and we saw a girl that we went to school with that we hadn’t seen in over 30 years. We approached her and she totally remembered us and we had a nice chat for a few minutes. Got word last week that she passed away unexpectedly. I’m so glad that we took a few minutes to chat with her.

I actually ran into a girl from my home room when I was living in New Orleans.

We both went to the same hs in another state. She was living there and working at Tulane.

Now college is a diff story. I see people I was at LSU with all the time.

I have from time to time. See how they're doing and if they would like to keep in touch. If yes, I'll provide my contact information.

That would be extremely rare since I moved to another state. I will say, however, that one time I was walking in my old neighborhood in Hattiesburg and ran into a new neighbor around another cul-de-sac. Turned out to be a girl I went to middle school with in Baton Rouge. That was pretty weird.

I probably would not say hi. I avoid people I know at the grocery store.

I inadvertently ran into my 25th high school class reunion at a resort in Cabo. I have not kept in touch with a single person from that school since the day of graduation.

It ruined my vacation having to interact with the townies that went on the trip.

Nope I live 2,500 miles from where I grew up… it is perfect not having to run into anyone from childhood

Depends on my mood.

Generally I am very outgoing and say hello.
