Sounds to me like he's overly emotional. But we might need to get a DV ruling on that.

Crying over a job you just got... I won't comment because I don't know the circumstances, but I don't measure ones manliness over whether they cry or not.

While I don't cry buckets at the drop of a hat, there are no rules regarding crying so it's only pathetic as your opinion. People get emotional over different things, so I don't judge people because of that. I think crying all the time might suggest some mental health issues, but the OP didn't post that.
And it is only your Opinion that it's not pathetic for a man to cry over a bad day.
You can transpose all the bad things you want in order to try and make a case for this dude crying. But according to the OP this guy was just crying over a run of the mill bad day. Nothing about his dog dying, nothing about mental issues. Of course those would change the equation. But the OP said noting more than he had a bad day.

Not true. Read the OP. The guy didn't cry. He made a comment that he was going to go home and cry. He may have never even cried.

Certainly not acceptable for a bad day at work, or most other instances. I KY time I have cried as an adult - death of my dogs and 2011 superbowl. At half time U2 played and the scrolled the names of all people who died on 9/11 on a huge screen in the dome. Just got to me. The whole place was raw with emotions.

Cry, like bawling? No.
Misty eyed? Yeah but rarely and at weird times, maybe at the key moment of a good movie. Like in Warrior, at the end of the final match. Or Jaws.
fricking shark.

Yep, when a buddy of mine was killed in Iraq. Cried like a baby.

Cried when we had to put my dog down. Spent a few moments with him. He was so weak he couldn't lift his head. When it was time to leave he jumped up and started barking. Toughest thing was to keep walking. Still gets to me.
