Whenever I buy someone a gift card, before giving it I check the balance on it to make sure I didn't get scammed by the cashier or place I bought it from.

The only problem with that is you would have to scratch off the back in order to do that and then it looks like you gave them a used gift card.

That's why you fold the receipt showing the purchase and balance and put it with the card. Maybe they still have the receipt.

No fricking shite! BestBanker isn't bad at all but some people will ask the most retarded questions like "should I use a pen or pencil while taking notes on a conference call".

Yeah I was in the middle of an edit. Like I said, it depends. One of my boys? Give him shite about it (not in front of people like an a-hole). If it were someone I really frick with then I wouldn't.

These kids invite each other to their grad parties, so we all end up forking out bucks for about 100 of these money dances. Yeh, close friend.

Depends on who the person is. If it was MY friend, I'd tell him in private. It it were family, acquaintance or wife's friend, I'd just give my kid $25 and call it a day.

This is the correct answer.

What a great idea about not having to spend any money in getting graduation gifts!

Win - win.

Graduation gifts are stupid in the first place. I hate when friends of mine send stupid graduation invitations just looking for a gift. I hardly know their kid. Why would I go to their graduation?

Did the gift giver actually spend the $25 and it wasn't properly loaded onto the card by the cashier?
