The rocking chairs I’ve gotten from Angola are incredible. Some of the products made there are top notch.

My friends had the cross beam of their 1 year old sofa break when their kids were wrestling on it.
They bought a new one. I opened the old one up and replaced the beam. It was all particle board with very few support straps. I added some supports and stapled the upholstery back in and it looks pretty darn close to normal. Will probably keep for a few years as our old one got tossed recently.
This was like a 3-4k sofa that looked like ikea furniture on the inside.

Don't know if they are the best, but we bought ours from Americal Factory Direct about 7 years ago and it's holding on pretty strong. Kids like to try to use it as a trampoline when they are wound up from gymnastics or dance; and outside of one of the back cushions collapsing in the middle the sofa is still holding up strong.

I have a very simple lined sofa that I got from my grandparent's house. They owned it back in the 60's when they lived in Hawaii and my mom tells me it was actually in the house when they bought it. The frame is all iron. The springs and foam are still great. I had it reupholstered by Denicola's a dozen years ago, and will have it reupholstered again someday.
It survived my mom's childhood. Me and my brother wrestling on it and my two boys wrestling on it. The fabric is the only thing that has worn out several times.
Buy vintage.

Just buy them off of people moving/upgrading and throw a couch cover on.

the wife and I just bought a used couch at the thrift store for 55 bucks - thoroughly cleaned it, and repaired a small hole where the back pillow met the couch. still solid a year in.
cannot imagine spending multiple thousands of dollars for stuff that will go bad quickly

This is the issue with ours. We bought it from Ashley 16 years ago. It's top grain leather, not that slurry shite. The leather is still in perfect shape. But the foam is sagging now.
Neither my wife or I are overweight, so it's not that.

They were built to withstand a nuclear blast... in fact, we still have one of the sofas. The only reason we got rid of them was we wanted something new and they were worse for wear. Recovering was more expensive that a new purchase.
We bought new sofas a couple years ago and they already show signs of wear on the corners and other places. The cushions constantly have to be pushed back and I am convinced at least one of the cushions is already starting to compress.

In 2017, I purchased a couch made of full grain leather and wood (forget which kind) from a local furniture store that sourced a lot of its furniture from the Amish (Pennsylvania and somewhere in the Midwest, maybe Ohio). I think it was under $2,000, and it was certainly well under $3,000. After 7 years and 4 moves, it is still going strong and looks brand new.

Make a Live Auctioneers account. Find a Danish sofa you like, buy it and have it U-shipped in. 10 years down the line you can sell it for a profit if you want. Try that with current "American" furniture. It depreciates the day you buy it for good reason. It's crap.

Damn, perhaps Lexus and Toyota should change their business models so their cars wear out as quickly as American cars. Their current model obviously has not worked for them.

I got a sectional custom made from Town and Country here in BR and it took a year and a half to actually come, and it is the least comfortable sofa I've ever had. It is almost unbelievable how uncomfortable it is.
My cheap closeout couches I bought for apartments were more comfortable.
