Last night. This was dope. Any guy of a certain age (early-mid 30's) should have a big shite eating grin on their face seeing/hearing this

Funny, I showed my 6yr old a YouTube video of Starcade 97 last night. I actually dresses up as Sting when I went over to my friends house to watch Starcade 97!

Yea it was probably the best segment in AEW Dynamite's short history for me......close second is MJF and Jericho's broadway-type song.

Sting was my absolute favorite as a kid. I put many a friend into the Scorpion Deathlock.

What was the backstory with Sting? He went what seemed to be months or years without actually wrestling. Was that just the storyline or was there more to it?

Seth Rollins legit injured Sting during their WWE Universal Championship match a number of years ago

he's had spinal stenosis & had to have neck surgery and his career was believed over (same like Edge)... it was so bad I've heard the phrase 'near internal decapitation' thrown around when describing it

but he might have been cleared to return... not exactly sure

ETA: I believe the Sting injury is why WWE banned the 'buckle bomb'... it was a buckle bomb from Seth that caused Sting's injury

WCW’s contract system was fricked up.

That isn’t news.

What is news is that Sting apparently hit the required number of dates for the year at some point in 1996, during the nWo’s rise, which meant he didn’t wrestle any matches for a long time. That made him seem better than the rest of the roster considering the nWo was throwing Rey like a lawn dart and destroying the Giant then celebrating over his body.

At some point, WCW realized how over he was getting and decided to promote towards a big show, bumping it back from mid-1997 to Starrcade in December.

And then Hogan, Bischoff, and Nick Patrick fricked it all up.

I don’t think that was the only Buckle Bomb injury. I want to say Nia Jax fricked someone up too.

Nia Jax fricked up Kairi Sane a bunch... so more than likely it was her

Yes the buckle bomb was only banned recently. That's Nia's fault, not Seth's.

Sloppy male wrestlers are a problem.

Sloppy female wrestlers, ESPECIALLY big girls like Nia Jax or Linda Miles, are a HUGE problem because the other girls don’t have the bulk to absorb damage caused by them fricking up.

Jim Cornette used to make Linda wrestle against the men in OVW to keep her from accidentally killing someone.

Nia injuring Kairi was the final straw... but you have to know Sting's injury from Seth's buckle bomb played into the decision
