It's always been a dream of mine to climb Everest.

It's interesting that you brought up Viesturs. The only summit he broke his rules for was K2 and he admits that he got away with one on that mountain.

I read everything on this subject I can find. I'm fascinated by the big mountains and those that climb them. If I can get over my hatred of cold weather for a couple of months I'd love to do a trek to the K2 base camp to see the Karakoram range.

Adrian Hayes just below the summit of K2 in 2014. Gives you some idea of the steepness. Everest's challenge comes mostly from weather and altitude. And no mistake, it is a challenge, but if you're in great shape, have good guides, and the weather cooperates, someone relatively inexperienced can do it. K2 is tough, risky, and hideously difficult for even the best mountaineers.

Dress like they say, you'll be fine. It was blowing 25-40 and COLD and I was unzipping to keep from sweating.

I'm sure it's been said, but I could do much more with the $65,000.

The valley below K2, on the glacier at Concordia Camp must be incredibly beautiful. There are valleys around here similar, but I'd love to see that one.

Is that image right at the end of the traverse as you come out from under the serac? Very cool photo.
