Hmmmm, interesting. I just went to Hawaii this past December myself. The Road to Hana is by car, but not a lot of fun...lots of one way bridges, bad curves and crap on the way up and down the mountain.

That is a crazy drive...I did that with my parents when I was younger and I think I

The bike trail on Maui that descends the entire way is fun. Not real treacherous though.
