Woman "felt raped" by police in roadside strip search

Came across this earlier today. Surely this is illegal. I know cavity searches can be done. But not on the side of the road right?

Intetestingly enough, IIRC there were two state troopers in Texas that were charged with sexual assault for doing exactly this. They plead guilty to lesser charges and both lost their badges.
It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Kelly Helleson, 34, admitted to two counts of official repression in exchange for prosecutors dropping sexual assault charges against her. She was sentenced Friday to two years of probation.
The trooper was fired last year after a graphic 2012 dash cam video of a traffic stop in the Dallas area showed Helleson donning blue gloves and inserting her fingers into the vaginas and rectums of Angel Dobbs and her niece, Ashley Dobbs, after they were pulled over for allegedly throwing lighted cigarettes out of their car's windows.
Angel Dobbs testified Friday she felt sexually assaulted during the disturbing interlude. Helleson had been summoned to the 2012 scene by trooper David Farrell, who said he smelled marijuana in the car. No illegal substances were found.

They need a warrant to do a cavity search and they have to be taken to the station for it.

Sounds to me like it wasnt a cavity search, just a fricked up Terry frisk. You do a groin check and can reach into underwear if you find a possible weapon. To do that though, with a Terry frisk but you have to be in a location "that protects the dignity" of the person being searched and you can search anyone with their clothes on if the officer is properly trained.

Women should just agree to male officers performing roadside cavity searches. It would all be over in less than a minute. Back on the road in no time.

We had this happen in Texas and the state trooper who did this to a woman (another female) was convicted of sexual assault and stripped of her peace officer's license.
