After the McD settlement, you'd think a big company like this would learn

A Starbucks coffee shop is in hot water after a woman claims she was scalded by coffee after getting a loose lid at the drive-thru ... and now she's lawyered up.
Katrina Day says she hit up a Starbucks in Florida last month. She claims her lid was not fully secured by employees, and she suffered "severe burns" to her back, legs and buttocks when the coffee spilled.

Don't see how coffee places aren't sued daily for these kinds of "incidents."

I'd like to reserve judgement until I hear more.

Seems awfully hard to believe that merchants still serve coffee hot enough to inflict that kind of injury.....hmmmmmm.

Sexy panties.
I would hit that hole.

The McDonald's case was only relevant because they heated the coffee to very unsafe high temperatures IIRC.
If not for that, I don't think this will be nearly as strong a case
ETA:
That's not suspicious at all

the McD settlement,
This case is lampooned and the victim ridiculed, and has been for 20 years.
Google the images. They are out there. Any motherfricker on this board would have sued.

Her butt fold scalded my eyes.

Not that i doubt her story, but how did it possibly spill on her back while sitting in the drive through? Regardless that looks like it hurts like a motherfricker.

Maybe now she can afford a gym membership and do some squats

Guessing it poured into right part of her seat and settled at lowest point near her arse.

Obviously a fat woman. Looking for easy pay days. Her own incompetence could be partly to blame. Maybe the employee told her it was hot, yet she ignored it.

I think it had to do with the ridiculous amount of money the victim was initially awarded. McDonald's appealed and it was greatly reduced.
Plus, I think there is a health code or something that states what temp hot coffee should be served. At the time McDonald's offered free refills to dine in customers. To soften the financial blow of this, they sent out a memo to restaurants stating that coffee should be kept at a higher temperature.
Lawyers got their hands on the docs and that was that.

The McDonald's case was justified. They were deliberately superheating their coffee to a temperature that no human could possibly consume - this case would simply be negligence on the employee who placed the lid, at best.
I'm with the poster who said google the images of the McDonalds case- lady just wanted her bills paid for.
This lady is the ignorant person. She managed to burn her back while sitting in a car and spilling coffee.
