This is why I always check behind my car before I back out. My dad had a case once where a toddler got out and played with the back tire and the father ran over it.

I never want to deal with anything like that.

I worked with a guy whose 2-3 year old grandkid was killed this way. When my kids and neighbor kids are out playing and Im leaving, I always get out and make sure there is nothing around my truck and I can see where all kids are when I pull out.

Very sad but this is why you don't ever ever back up unless you know the coast is clear.

I was reading about this the other day. I think it's great. It'd definitely help stop these kinds of accidents.

This shite happens. My parents used to live ontop of a steep hill. I was visiting once and while I was there my dad parked a push mower on it about half way down. because of the slope of the hill it could not be seen in the rearview and I straight backed the frick over it and skulldrug that mother fricker to the bottom. Lucky it didn't explode from sparks new the gas tank.

It's time that all cars have rear view cameras.

I don't know how you live a remotely normal life after this. Every life event she gets to enjoy will bring guilt.

Government mandated in all new vehicles by 2018. This would've been prevented by use of a rear-view camera.

Or if the other didn't have headphones on dulling one the senses that could have saved her life. That's why I never wear headphones outside of my house.

Yes, the rear view camera most likely would have prevented this, assuming she was watching the camera before backing up. I like the reverse sensing system (beeping) along with the combination of the rear view camera. It is easy to look away for 1 second then a kid run behind the car while you are still backing up. You will hear the beeping before you see it, more than likely.

Very sad story and a tragic accident. Prayers to the family.
