With uptick in gun violence, do you avoid large gatherings?

I have definitely altered what I attend now, simply because I don't feel safe in a large group of strangers. In my area, several of the shootings have also occurred with police only a few feet away. I'm in my mid 50s and I've found most adults in my age group have also altered their outings to varying degrees.

I have two kids who are both married - one in mid 20s and the other in the mid 30s - and I was shocked to hear them and most of their friends state that they don't really think about it because it can happen anywhere. It must be a generational thing!

Just interested to see how everyone else is handling the situation.

As long as it’s a crowd that doesn’t have those associated with point and spray techniques, I’m good

There sure are a lot of little bitches here for a board supposedly full of baws.

Y’all are now scared of a crowd?

No.

Mostly because I don’t attend the type of large gatherings that are most likely to have gun violence.

I avoid large gatherings because the general public has become unbearable to tolerate.

I avoid large gatherings because I generally don’t like people. Not because I’m scared of getting shot

I stopped going to nightclubs 10+ years ago... in Louisiana nightclub related shootings probably 70% or more of all shootings... last couple years it's been avoiding rival high school football team games... everywhere else is pretty safe... the # of murders doesn't tell the whole story... people mostly killing people they know...

They’re not scared if they’re wearing masks

I can’t say that I do. Pretty,I h the only large gatherings that I attend are sporting events, and there are always metal detectors at all entrances to those. If I were to attend events with an unfavorable demographic or where I deem there are inadequate safety measures taken, I would have to think more carefully.

I’d say 75% of this board are a bunch of dudes that are completely full of shite and lie about most things. And of themselves. Remember, this is the internet.

Define large gathering.

I've got 1-2 LSU football games a year in me max. Not worth dealing with BR traffic more than that.

1-2 Pelicans games and 1-2 LSU basketball games

Then usually try to make it to one mlb park per summer

Couldn't catch me dead at a bar, other than a brewery on a Friday or Saturday afternoon

Yet to see gun violence at a major sporting event. Those typically the only mass gatherings I attend. Will keep taking my chances

No. I know how to comprehend per capita statistics and tend to avoid situations where I may be outnumbered by the 13%ers.

It's the uptick in BO that's chased me away.
