I don't know what they could do about a road rage incident. Nor the dysfunction that is pervasive in many families that leads to uncivilized individuals.
All they can do along with the DA and courts is tighten up to catch these folks and make sure offenders don't get out to do it again.
Which for new orleans would accomplish a great deal in some respects.

If it was road rage it could be possible it was self-defense and the guy took off. I only mention this because the guy who did the shooting was the one who caused the accident and why would the person who caused an accident start a fight and shoot people? If he had been the one that was crashed into I would get it but if you hit someone why would you feel the need to assault the person you ran into, ya know?

And it seems like his wife was in the passenger seat and PT was in the back seat? The perp would've had to walk straight up to the driver's window to do that

This makes my heart sick to see this. He was a fantastic representative of the New Orleans Saints. And now his kids are going to grow up without a dad. Depressing.

No, they typically don't. But using it as a soap box is also BS--just as much as if Obama uses Sandyhook as a stump for gun control--there's no need for the politicking.
As for the area, my friend lived there for a year on St Mary's. We never had any problems. It wasn't the best area. Maybe it's because the neighborhood collectively thought, "damn, those must be some crazy fricking white boy's." Regardless, I never felt insecure walking around those streets.
even so, I hope it was just a random act as opposed to a Steve McNair type situation. RIP. Terrible news.

If that were the case (which it isnt)
1) The guy could've stayed in his Hummer
2) If he was in enough danger to shoot someone, he could've just popped it into reverse and left

I would like to think that having MPs posted everywhere/ patrolling constantly would help deter something like this.
