I highly doubt it but I do know that I wouldn't risk it.

I've got a flight flying out of MSY on Thursday morning that has a layover in houston before heading to its final destination. Feel like I'm stuck between a rock and hard place on this one. Any idea if flights will be grounded on Thursday? Is it worth the risk of driving closer to the storm's center to try and get to Houston to get on the connecting flight? Or, am I just screwed?

Thats forcasting at 6am tomorrow winds out of the east at 15 to 25 knots. That's not terrible at all and in fact is straight down the eastward runway. If winds stay like that I wouldn't foresee many problems. Right now the airport is running like normal.

Rain generally won't shut down an airport. Extremely high winds and convective activity will.

If I had a connecting flight it might be worth it to drive to Houston to try and get the connection assuming Houston stays on the east side of the storm

If this tropical rain event is accompanied by a tropical wind event, I'd say unlikely.

Just tough because by the time I could drive to Houston, the center of the storm would be right in that path. Definitely hoping this thing speeds up.
