There are some $150 jeans that are just like any cheap jeans, and there are some $150 jeans that you won't find anything like them for $40. I have a pair of Buffalo jeans and just bought a pair of Big Stars, both $150 or more. They are by far the softest, most comfortable jeans I've ever worn. I don't mind paying extra for them. My wife, however, will buy an entire wardrobe for what I spend on one outfit. She's so freaking frugal. As much as I appreciate the extra money to spend, I really wish she'd splurge every now and then.

Seriously, it makes me feel guilty for spending my own money. I just bought two pairs of jeans, a few shirts, and a pair of shoes and spent $900. She went shopping all day the next weekend to buy a new dress for a wedding this weekend. She came home with 3 dresses and pair of shoes and spent less than I did on one pair of jeans. She started working again this year (so she wouldn't have to be stuck home with me all day), and I told her to go buy a new wardrobe for work, and she bought a pair of pants from the goddamn Goodwill store. She needs a new car next year, and I'm trying to steer her to a Panamera or a CLA45 AMG. She wants a fricking Toyota.

My husband usually just gets me a gift card to do the same thing if I don't tell him anything else specific I want. That way he doesn't have to stress over finding me clothes that I like and I don't have to say I had to return it cause it didn't fit right when really I just didn't like it

I would never consider clothes an option for a Christmas gift, if my wife wants clothes she just goes to the store and buys it

I think I have 10 pair of pants, currently in service, for under that.

Jean Therapy and Buckle?! Good Lord, just give her money and let her go somewhere really nice.

Saks, NK Boutique, Eros, or Chatta Box. She'll find some really nice jeans there.

Exactly. I give Mrs Cove things like vacuum sealers, home appliances, and ammunition. You know, thoughtful gifts that have practical uses.

I normally wouldn't do this either - any more than I'd give her a vacuum. But since she refuses to spend money on nice clothes, if I want her to dress nice I'd have to give her a gift certificate somewhere that clothes is the only thing she can buy.

Nothing wrong with paying a little more money for jeans. They fit better and last longer.
