I'm spending the weekend up here on the lake with family and I'm loving it! Small town country living is awesome!

I knew some KD's and Chi O's from there. LP has its 1% like everywhere else. The president of the LSU alumni chapter did time for fraud and bribery involving the sheriff and some other public officials a few years ago.

And it was the home of the Miss Louisiana pageant in the Fifties. The more you know..

Luckily, my family is in that rich, white cluster...

I saw the CNN report from a year or so ago about the "class disparity". It was heavily biased and done only from the low class perspective. I'd like to see the story done from the upper class perspective, particularly highlighting the way the upper class earned that classification. Lots of hard working, farming families up here. Anyone could do it if they wanted to, black or white. Some people just don't want to work hard to earn an honest living.

1. Lake Bruin is better
2. The speeding cameras will get you.
3. Have you seen the area away from the lake?

Panola hot sauce is awesom though.

I can't remember if it was Lake Providence or another city in the part of the Madison/Tensas/East Carrol trifecta, but I remember a report saying that the wealth differential was the worst in the nation.

ETA: Dammit cdaniel got to it before me

It's been posted many times before. Not a major concern of mine.

Back in the 90s and early 00s Lake Providence had a gang problem completely out of proportion to size and location. I understand that since then their crime rates have moved much closer to the norm for similar areas. But for awhile they carried a national rep as the most dangerous small town in America. The police even imposed citywide curfews on multiple occasions to cool things off.

Just like Ferriday.
Cool parts where all the white people go (lake Concordia and St. John)and shitty parts where poor black people live.
