With all the hubub of the LLWS right now, it's weird to me that there's no Baton Rouge little league affiliates.

Is it that USSSA has such a firm grip in our area or some other political flap? Or is it just because nobody's put one together yet?

We only do travel ball.

Little league is for losers who will never get called up to the majors.

This, rather be on ESPN at 22 years old than 12.

Reading this article, it seems like a big deal. I just wonder if any of these kids came out of the BR area. I've searched for a roster with hometowns but got nothing.

Of course. Isn't the entire MLB comprised of travel ball alums?

LL is an all star system. Much stricter bat rules. Also Jayden can’t go make his own team if he isn’t the shortstop in LL.

Because so many just play travel. Whether it be 2D, USSSA, or OTC as the local options for tournaments. Many parents would rather their kids face and compete against same level competition. It would serve no purpose for a majors level 12u pitcher to play recreational baseball at this time. There is no growth in competition being vastly above the rest in youth sports.

Now, from what I've heard, quite a number of the kids on the LA LLWS team do play travel ball. When my kid was 12, the East Bank LLWS team had several players from La Rip and Luling Cubs.

I think eventually tournament ball will develop into a league style system (esp at Majors) where playing the game is preferred to trying to win rings or 6ft tall trophies.

Of the parents I know that played rec ball "just to get some more ball in", they said never again. Meaning the pace of play, pitchers who couldn't throw strikes, and number of errors made the game boring.

So if someone wanted to go start their own shitty BR Little League team, they could do It?

o/u: 2.5 bans

Youngsters Brayden and J’Quill’e run in social circles that do not play well with each other.

Their is a concerted effort in Lafayette to get kids that do both. The 9U team won state in LL pretty handily and pretty much everyone on the team also played USSSA.

Its basically just a push to try to make it to the LLWS and be on ESPN. Im sure BR or the AP could do the same. Its a little easier to do in laffy bc of the USSSA tournaments in Broussard, Youngsville, and Pelican park. If not the travel would be to much.

I enjoyed playing in Lafayette Little League back when. I’m sure the competition is stronger is travel leagues, but playing against kids you know from school was fun, and All-Stars after the season gave the toe dip into travel.

USSSA is a money making racket controlled by a small group. They lock up fields with leases. You have to play in their tournaments or you don’t play.

Not true. There’s OTC and 2D tournaments every weekend.

If you are going to a little leave game to see clean, error free baseball and good pitchers you are a retard.
