I fill up two 6 gallon plastic Jerry cans full of water. From there it's easy to fill my stainless steel water bottles. I also fill a bunch of two liter bottles and freeze them several days before the storm for ice.
The less that I have to go out into the pre hurricane madness at the stores, the better. Less things to stress about.

Get some 5 gallon expandable water bladders ($9/per)... add a Sawyer 0.1 micron mini filter ($20) that is good for 100,000 gallons

Never need to purchase water bottles, and will have the cleanest water around

TheArrogantCorndog is correct.

You can filter water out of a ditch with that Sawyer water filter and store it in those water bladders that will last for years.

Food grade 5 gallon buckets with lid are about 5-6 dollars each 100 dollars gets you 100 gallons of potable water.

for flushing toilets spend 50$ and fill up an inflatable swimming pool

I still fill up my tubs when something happens. Its also very easy to boil water and make it safe.

And now with all the filters available I mean you shouldnt have to buy anything.

Those with unsafe tap water you can get a freaking filter assembly from home depot to put on a faucet for like 30 bucks. Filters are like $15 and last 6 months.

Having water pressure is not a guarantee 1) some people are on well water, lose power, lose water 2) water line breaks can happen, and cause drop or loss in pressure. 3) some ares are not on tower assisted water and rely on pumps, lose power to pumping stations lose water 4) prolong power outages will keep the pumps from filling to towers, and will eventually result in water loss.

It seems like filling your containers before the storm would eliminate all of these issues, maybe I am wrong.

used to be part of the prep to fill bath tubs and sinks.
That's to flush your toilet with.. not to drink.

Like taste would really be a concern in a post hurricane situation anyway?

is totally unrelated to this

lol at anyone that thinks Dasani is better tasting than tap water.

taste is relative to your particular water source and plumbing. As is the safety of any water you store for a period of time. As another poster pointed out, seal storage is the thing on bottled water. I tend to go for the cheap gallon sized water for hurricane prep.

Has anyone brought up the fact that drinking tap water will be one more thing for the wife to bitch about?

They will fist fight someone at Home Depot over a case of water. Meanwhile, back at home is a perfectly fine faucet that can fill up any and every container in your home.

Tap water contains a chlorine residual to protect against contamination during distribution. You would need to make sure each container in your home is filled all the way to the top of each sealed container.

Don't drink bathtub water. Is it near the toilet? Are you peeing and pooping next to that toilet?

That's a good point but I find it's harder to buy bottled water when there's trees all over the road and none of the stores are open.

BS. Taste is about your eyes seeing the source. There's countless studies that show this.

We are talking about storing tap water for 1-2 weeks at most. That Shite doesn't go bad in two weeks, give me a break.

Furthermore, almost every city/ county water supply in our country has better water than bottled water. Your government supplied water is regulated, bottled stuff is not.

Not to mention, you know how
Many bottled water companies get their supply literally directly from the same place that supplies cities and counties with their water? Zeppherhylis is a big one, they get their water from the same place as Pasco County. Do people really believe that these places have better water filtration than the government? Because it's worse.

Or what? I'm seriously asking you to outline the risk here.
