Amen. Easy tell on those who haven't been to a non-English speaking country

When I insert my card it should not ask me what language to continue in, no matter where in the world I'm at.

I agree.

Other countries typically will have a selection for other languages which is written in (gasp) other languages. Particularly in major international airports.

Banks are now international and it's a part of their programming design. Every country in Europe S-America, Japan and N-America have the same queations. My wife is Polish and prefers her ATM languages in Polish as well as her email accounts in Polish as well as her BBC and Wikipedia accounts in Polish. Welcome to globalization.

Eta: her pharmacy also prints all directions on her Rx bottles in Polish.

hey kafka thanks for posting

2. Spanish 414,000,000
3. English 335,000,000
4. Hindi 260,000,000
5. Arabic3 237,000,000
6. Portuguese 203,000,000
7. Bengali 193,000,000
8. Russian 167,000,000
9. Japanese 122,000,000
10. Javanese 84,300,000

but in case you didn't know there are 1.6 billion muslims on earth, you have to read/speak/understand arabic to be muslim so I dont know where the 237 million number is from but its just completely untrue if you think only 1/8th of muslims on earth speak arabic

No.

quote:

No, most Muslims don't speak Arabic. Depending on which country they are from they speak their native language. So An American Muslim speaks in English whilst a Japanese Muslim speaks in Japanese. Only Muslims from Arabic countries speak Arabic....

Though Muslims are encouraged and do aspire to learn the Arabic language in order to better understand the Quran and the word of God which is written in Arabic. Most read the translated versions

so tigris you really in your heart believe only 12% of muslims speak arabic? Lol an american muslim speaks english. LOL at that, cmon man most american muslims speak both languages, most do. Anyways going on what you said thats what 237M arabic speakers on earth it. According to wikipedia

quote:

Middle East consists of as Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.[1] According to this definition, Middle East has a population of 218 million

so 218M right there speak arabic, the rest of the world only has 19M arabic speakers? You really wanna believe that? Im sure we have over 19M right here in the US nevermind islamic strongholds like indonesia, pakistan, and many african nations.
