I'm sorry. What is a BDM? I looked it up on UD and the definitions I got were hilarious, but don't seem to apply here.

So, not big dick motherfricker, then? Your post makes a lot more sense now. Not as funny, though.
I think another aspect you may consider is that in this day and age of the internet, every little whacko opinion can be made or perceived to look as though it's shared by the majority of "the other side." Therefore, when someone writes an article about black holes being racist, etc., the other side of the political spectrum assigns it to the whole group identified with by the writer.
It isn't. For example, the internet made it look like everyone left of center was outraged last week by the comet scientist's tacky shirt. However, of you went on such lefty sites as democratic underground, you'd have seen legions of posters calling it ridiculous and irrational to conclude so.
It doesn't help when so many people use multiple Internet personalities to spread an idea as though it is consensus. I posted an article about it on the poli board a few days ago. Some women will take the articles you posted and slap them all over social media in an attempt to manufacture a fictional consensus. And now you, in turn, have made it an issue here. I don't blame you for being outraged over a ridiculous concept, but at the same time, you are proliferating it.

Fat activists are hypocrites... they always get mad that guys are not attracted to them and that they are still beautiful. But notice its only attractive fit men they want to be with. If a fat guy tries to hit on them they reject him. It's a one way street.

While not related to fatties, you will love this Prog manifesto on supporting choices. This is from a DU thread back in April when the Shanesha Taylor story broke:
quote:
Our society failed this family and is failing millions more, quit your finger pointingand help folks like this to have the ability to make wise and reasonable choices.
Desperation excludes good choices, that is what it means to be desperate.
I also believe that the first in line to castigate this woman would also be in the front of the queue to blame her for all of them roasting to death in that car because nothing better could be had in the hot summer, the first to wonder where the mother was when the car is impounded and something horrible happens fully exposed to life on the streets.
Or indeed anything that is the fruit of the decision demanded now.
Probably the first to oppose any real solution to the epidemic moral failure (that more of us than we can readily imagine right now may well face as the shite explosion plays out) because they will have to pay some taxes, take a hit to their own property values, have to "rub elbows" with such folks in the sanctity of their neighborhood, or just the lame fear and anger that someone is getting something on the cheap or free that they had to work hard to get.
No, our societal response is to criminalize homelessness, cruel savaging of the raggedy excuse for a safety net we have now, and allowing soulless fricks to get more wealthy from running folks off their property and super heating the rental market while plundering the commons as they starve the only counter (government) of revenue and pile it with empty obligations (also for the benefit of profits).

I can't even think of what kind of insult a human marshmallow can come up with for someone who is fit.

things like:
"you dont enjoy life do you."
"enjoy your salad. we are going to lunch to eat real food"
"you must not like spending time with your family to spend your afternoons at the gym"
etc.

She can answer all of those by posting this at her desk:

On this subject, I just ate way too much food at our Thanksgiving work lunch. I feel gluttonous, but it was delicious.

now whether or not shaming is an effective form of motivation is up for debate
sure it CAN be, typically it just makes the problem worse
even if it is successful there is the potential for obsessive behavior, body dysmorphia, anorexia, severe malnutrition, etc.
but hey, now they're not fat.
on the flip side, I'm not innocent of this. I make fatties run laps around my car while stopped at red lights
shaming a child to "correct" behavior can lead to this...

"If you want to be fat, fine. If asked, I'll say you're fat. I won't shame you, because I don't give a shite. If you're nice, I'll still treat you normally and ignore that you're fat.
Ditto for being in shape. If you're douchey about the gym, I'll note that you're a douche."
Reading this was like finding a polished diamond in a turd farm.
