Just picked up laundry. Five shirts and four pants. Spent almost $50.

I see these vans dropping off the laundry. The cleaners are just fricking middle men. They're sending everything somewhere else.

Its gotten so expensive that it almost makes sense to just buy new shirts, wear and wash about five times and then toss them in the donation pile and buy new ones.

You paid $5 per garment, is that really that much?

Well.... There is your answer.

Find a cleaner that does it in house.

The vans are generally a route service. We have a guy who comes to my office twice a week to pick up and drop off dry cleaning. He charges 5.95 for pants and 2.80 for shirts. It's not that bad to me. I said all that to say, he drives a van and picks up/ drops off from the cleaners.

$50 is a little higher than I pay, but doesn't seem to bad to me. If you are in a large city you can find someone to do it for cheap, but I wouldn't complain about 50 bucks somewhere like BR.

Also, you must buy cheap clothes if wearing it 5 times and throwing it away is a better deal than paying $5 to get your stuff cleaned.

You shouldn't be taking your pants to the cleaners so much if they are quality fabric.

That's pretty expensive

5 shirts and 4 pants would probably be 30 dollars for me, in the middle of Atlanta. And my cleaners is higher than average for the area.

Aside from a suit or wool coat, what would you be dry cleaning?

Because they clean it without getting it wet. That's like innovative and futuristic.

And you should send your suits to the cleaners only when you absolutely have to.

Wrong. I'm frugal and purchase nice clothes when they are on sale. Only dumb Millennials who want stay trendy pay retail.

why was I downvoted so much? If I took a shirt to get drycleaned and the bill was $5 I wouldn't think twice. Obviously if you take 9 items the bill is going to be higher..

Maybe your cleaner is a middle man. Mine does it all in their own shop.

I noticed in Louisiana that dry cleaning was off the charts expensive. Paying $3+ a shirt and had to wait 3 days to pick it up. In Houston, I pay $1.49 per piece of clothing and get same day cleaning if dropped off by 9 am.
