Why does 1975-1995 seem like a large span of time?

But 2003 doesn't feel like it was very long ago?

We have a slower perception of time when we're younger

The older you get the faster time goes by.

We’re further away from 1980 than 1980 was from WWII.

And Pulp Fiction is almost 30 years old.

Right in the middle….

“Since Bruce Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana
There was U2 and Blondie
And music still on MTV
Her two kids in high school
They tell her that she's uncool
'Cause she's still preoccupied
With 19, 19
1985”

It’s obviously another result of man-made climate change.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it

The significant cultural, social, and technological shifts between 1975 and 1995 make them seem like worlds apart, ISO.

2003 to now doesn’t seem to have that great of a cultural, social, and technological difference.

Well, Scruffy would say 2010 rather than 2003. Really, it was once social media hit the scene.

The 70s were radically different from the 80s, which was radically different from the 90s.

Are the early 2000s really that different from now?

I think maybe 2003-2023 seems longer because we have had phenomenal technological advances at the same moment IQ’s started to drop precipitously and the culture clearly dumbed down. 1985-1995 was cake,-fun , freedom and adventure. 2003-2023 has a weird conformist, unauthentic , dystopian feel of decline and impending doom and that feeling is quickening.

Because I went from 5 to 25 during that time span.

I was an adult the whole time from 2003 to 2023.

1980-2000 felt like an eternity for me. 2000-2020 felt like 5 years.

There was a lot of culture change between 75-95. 70's 80's and 90's were all just so pronounced individually. Music, movies, television, technology, cars, etc...So it just feels like 3 sperate lifetimes.

2003 and today look the damn same. Music is more or less the same, movies hold up from 03. We're pretty much wearing the same shite. There have been no significant cultural changes like it was back then. So day in and day out almost nothing changes, so it goes by quicker. At least this is the way I'm seeing it.

I was born in 1972 and remember as a kid thinking how the year 2000 would never get here. Now it's past and long gone.

Because you’re old like me. Each year of school seemed like an eternity. Now it seems each year of my kids are in school year takes about four months.

The 1970's were such an epic time of bad taste, bad economy, bad business, etc... it would be hard to repeat and thus it seems far away.

Cars were crap.
Music (see: disco) was crap
Fashion was crap
Homes were crap (avocado brown and gold linoleum)
Carter was crap
Nixon was probably crap
the oil embargos were crap

Like not too sure what was good. We put a crap decade behind us and forgot about it.

Because it involved 3 major cultural shifts

End of Vietnam and the issues in Washington leading to a depressed country
The rebirth of America and the end of the Cold War
The dawn of the internet and the shifting technological advances in the US military complex

The 70’s cars
We’re
Good. And the music was good. Well I was 15-35 from 75-95. And the 80’s is the best decade ever. If I could go back in time I would change much
