best thing to do is donate yourself to the University of Tennessee forensic program body farm.

High research value for catching murderers etc

Just take my ashes to St. Louis,
drop em in the Mississippi where the current's strong.
I wanna flow back through the Southland,
I wanna know I'm going home.

Oh I love the body farm. It is such a great place and the research there is just so important. Fascinating work being done there indeed.

I think that is pretty cool. It's nice to be able to still have him in your life and to have a sense of humor about it.

I seriously hope at my funeral that they have a blast and laugh so much over all the stupid stuff I did. Dont even want a funeral, just get together, get a keg and some good smoke and good music and have a damn party.

don't some cheap funeral homes say if you buy the coffin at regular price we throw in everything else free.

I think this is cheaper that getting a less expensive coffin and paying for everything else.

sorry to digress on your thread.

That's why I shall be burned and given back to nature as I was meant to be.

I'm no use in a box, inside of a box, in the ground.

As for donations there is also body world. They do plastination. Remove all fluids and pump you full of plastic for the displays.

Cool exhibit by the way.

Give every piece of me to someone alive if they can use it and cremate the rest.

Then dump a fourth of my ashes in the 4 major oceans.

ETA:

No one is allowed to wear black at my funeral/wake. Alcohol will be served as well as my favorite foods. Then my best friends and family have an open mic to roast me.

We buried my stepdad in one two years ago at his request. It was actually extremely well made, and humble, which is the way he wanted it.

because I think it's illegal to rent them.

EDIT -- learned I am wrong-- at leas for cremations. Why doesn't everybody do this for the wake, and then get buried in a shipping crate?

They ain't exactly giving those away either. The "Monastic" style is the least expensive and it's $1,700 plus tax. The nicer one is $2,250 plus tax.

The people are great at St Joseph's Abbey and were easy to work with. I have no complaints about them. But the idea that you can get a cheap pine box from them for a couple of hundred bucks is not accurate. (For starters, they use cypress...)

Not anymore. I don't know if they're now colluding with the funeral homes or what, but the $800 coffin wasn't available when I was shopping for one.

Past 3 funerals I've been to, the deceased had a rented casket for the funeral mass and then were cremated.
