Why do people try to preserve blue crabs by not taking females?

Wouldn’t it be just as effective to not take any males and just let them go fertilize the remaining female population? Seems like some females might have trouble finding mates if you just take all the males.

Has it been proven that taking only males is much more effective than only taking females?

bc of the law

quote:

The recreational possession limit for blue crabs is 12 dozen per person per day. No one may harvest adult female crabs in the berry stage (carrying eggs or young attached to the abdomen).

You can take females once they have matured their breeding age.

Think of it this way, if you took 90% of the men out of LSU do you think all those remaining women would have a problem finding an LSU baw to frick them?

Yes because there’s simply not enough males. The numbers working against the males would be too great.

Most men who tell you they had sex with like 10 women recently are lying their asses off.

Across essentially all species that practice sexual reproduction, with few exceptions.

Its not hard math. You leave potential mother on the field, and take out the extra swinging dicks, as they don't require a 1 to 1 ratio to foster procreation.

They wouldn't be if all of a sudden there were only a tenth of the men available.

Are you really this slow? Its best to have males knocking up 10 females than 2 females having access to 10 males. One of those will produce more kids and its the 10 females 2 dudes.

Is this a serious question?

The females carry thousands of eggs and are attached to them for an extended period of time, a male has one purpose that happens quickly and he can perform the act over and over again with multiple partners.

How am I going to eat the crab eggs in the crab if you only catch the males?

The orange part is only in female crabs. It is the bomb. Cajun Caviar

Note only when it is in the shell, not under the tail like in the post below.

08 already told you. Here's a picture to help you understand. If the crab looks like this you can't keep it.

If they are like other crab species males are only harvested up to a certain size, generally preserving the best breeders.

They don’t date. They just run around spraying juice

I’d imagine one male could fertilize a bunch

I have the problem too. I’ve found that Lexapro helps considerably.

1 male can fertilize several females

When we stock catfish brood ponds we stock 2 females to every male fish for spawning season
