Serious question. I realize there are multiple reasons, I just want to hear what they are.

Give thanks. Bless the meal.

You realize what they are? Don't you know the answer already?

So people will look at them and finally acknowledge them

Not sure if serious, but if so: people pray before a meal to give thanks for the meal they are about to eat and the other blessings in their lives.

Probably because people want to thank whatever god they pray to for the food.

Do you seriously expect to be taken seriously with an avatar like that?

It's borderline troll.

I just give thanks for blessings I have been given. Foremost among them is I am not you.

Because Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.

Dear hugo,

You're better than this.

It's all about centering one's self.

Sincerely,

It's pretty fricking easy actually. You thank the person actually responsible for the meal. The person who cooked it.

Yeah isn't it kind of early for the Nazi Attack? Generally you want to start slow, with xenophobe, then move on to homophobe, go to anti-woman, then racist, and finish up with Nazi just before the election.

I can see back in the day, 150/200 years ago, praying for a meal. You probably had to forage/hunt for your meal and you are thankful that "the Lord" made that deer cross your path so you could kill it and have food for your family.
Nowadays we have jobs and go to the grocery store and buy our food. No need to pray.
I also find it funny we eat eggs, bacon, etc for breakfast still. We used to eat this hundred plus years ago because you'd go to the chicken coop and get your eggs in the morning and had pigs you could slaughter and cows for milk. Now we can eat whatever we want for breakfast but I'm sure the majority of people still eat eggs, bacon/ham and have milk because that's the way it's always been.
People don't question "why" enough and just go with the flow.
