We don't live in the days of "carry on the family name" or needing someone to work on the farm. You aren't handing the crown over to your kid to be the next king. Just curious, do most people plan the 1st child, and why? I get that parents say how wonderful it is, after the fact, because, let's face it, you are kind of stuck. But do most men desire children? Does the mothering instinct of the women influence you agreeing to a child? I just wonder how people decide that having a child is a smart financial, emotional, physical and physiological decision. Frankly, they look like a total burden.

Wife and I planned on having only 1 kid, we now have twin 4 year old boys.

It's the coolest thing ever, that's about the easiest way to put it. Of course there are sacrifices and things I had to give up/reduce by having them, but the benefits quite obviously outweigh the negatives.

Always get a chuckle out of the parents who think DINKs are missing out. I'd argue you don't know what you're missing. But I certainly respect your decision to have kids. I just never felt paternal.
it's especially funny when it comes from the type who got a job at the plant, got married, bought a house in their hometown, and had a kid before they turned 25.

I had a kid(s) when I was 32, I have an idea lol.

Everyone is different, but live it up and do all sorts of fun single things until you're ready to settle down. Once you settle down around, for me around 30+ just worked out perfectly, best of both worlds.

Not trying to be incendiary, I have never wanted kids, so the concept seems foreign.

K. Then basically you're a fish asking a cow to describe what life is like as a cow.

I still don't want them. I am too selfish, I enjoy my money too much, I enjoy my personal time too much. I do enjoy my nieces and nephews - and that is enough for me. Hats of to those of you who do it/did it - but it's not for me

That's me. I grew up assuming I'd have kids since "everybody does it" and I had siblings, but when the time came we talked about it, and neither of us was interested. Still aren't.

Just spent a few days with my niece and nephew. They are great, and I love them, but I still have no desire to have my own kids.

I don't have a problem with people who don't want to have kids, I have several friends in their 30s that probably never will.
What I can't stand are older couples without kids who make it a point to let you know they have dogs instead. As if it's in any way the same type of commitment.

I wanted a family so had 2 kids with the wife. Wife divorced me so I do not want the kids anymore. I treat the kids the same as the ex treats me, which is badly. I did not sign up to be a single parent.

You seem like you were raised in an unloving home.

Life for you simply wont be as sweet as it will be for many others.

Enjoy living in your void filled box you've created.

No kid person here, and I agree. A poodle is not your fricking child. Get a grip,

You are comitting mass genocide. In 10,000 years we'll be inhabiting nearby solar systems but there will be one desolate warm green planet because you decided to be a waste of tits.
