Why do people like Pit Bulls?

They are ugly, aren't functional for sporting activities like hunting, running courses, frisbee, etc. they also don't seem very smart.

Similar to bikers.
The ironic thing about pitbulls is they are desired for their badassery, but then the trashy owners all defend how sweet and docile they are...

Pit bulls only good for catching hogs. There is no other reason anyone should own one. The people who say they make good pets are trashy white folks and thugs.

Yes they are functional for sporting activity of hunting hogs. They are "catch dogs" the other dogs run the hog and "bay" it. That means corner it up or surround it. Once the hog is bayed the hunters take the catch dog in and turn it loose. The catch dog will run in and grab the hog on the back of the neck or ear and latch on. Pit bulls are used for this because of their jaw strength and when they bit they lock their jaws and will not turn loose.
I agree that no one needs one for a pet but they do have a place as a sporting dog.

gotcha... forgot about this usage of them. still, it's fricking barbaric, and if that's their only function, it's pretty indicting of the breed.
