Why Do People Hate "The Rich" So Much?

When did this sentiment start and why does the media push this narrative? Isn't the ultimate goal in life to achieve and excel to a higher standard and with that you are rewarded? I don't know how things got so backward. Pocket watching is a sickness. Get yo paper mayne!

I think people don't like the mega rich. I would assume it is because of what they perceive they pay in taxes (some actually don't pay much, but they know how to work the system). Also, I think there is a thought that most billionaires have had to do something unethical at some point to get that much money, which they would do if they had the opportunity..
And many people think that money will solve all of their problems. They don't have it and the rich does.

Nothing new, the merchant class didn't like the nobility and overthrew them using their money/power.
now the wealthy class is the nobility and uses their money to pass laws to game the system in their favor.

The vast, vast majority likely don’t give one shite about taxes.
It is almost entirely a “they have it, I want it” mentality, ISO.
The mega wealthy can escape almost all aspects of society that we hate. They have the option to leave the workforce if they choose.
The worries of the common folk don’t apply to them.
Many people see that as unfair.

IDK, I mean when I'm forced to walk with people on the street that are beneath me I usually cover my mouth with a handkerchief and flip them a shiny quarter. I never bother them.
