Somehow I believe you know the reasoning here.. Although I am not sure what diseases people fake the most..

There's not a bad potential stigma with cancer like there would be with aids.. (I'm not saying this is right fwiw) but it could potential be more embarrassing or turn people off. (Not saying this is right)

Also, cancer is probably just the easiest to get the most sympathy for.. not to belittle any other diseases.. just from a general population sympathizing. The person can act all innocent.. again not to belittle any other awful conditions.. say something like diabetes or heart disease.. it can often be contributed to poor behavior.. but the thing is.. so can cancer. but perhaps people don't always think of it like this. I just don't know.

I understand people lie, but I cannot stand when people lie about things like this to gain sympathy AND attention. I know a compulsive liar girl like this, and she just rubs me the wrong way. You literally can never believe anything these type of people say.. That really disgust me. I've seen people lie about mental health issues, although you have to be careful judging these situations.. because mental health issues aren't always something you can see for yourself or truly understand.
