It's the disproportionate ages that is strange to me. These places are about 60% white hair. What other place do you see so many old folks. Not trying to be mean, just wondering.

Ever had hardees for breakfast?

My parents go to the Council on Aging every Friday for fried fish. It would take a blizzard to stop them.

Don't get me wrong. I love it too.

Go to Captain Ds on Wendesday night (senior citizen night) and it's like walking into a nursing home common place.

My grandparents loved these places, but we always ate dinner at four o'clock.

still love good fried catfish but I'm picky about it because I hate when places use the fake Asian version as a replacement to save .50. Most restaurants in this shithole Shreveport sell that vc catfish as "catfish". Gives me the redeass. You know that shits par-fried like a chicken strip, etc.

I think that they grew up in a generation of boring, bland foods. This is the generation that championed frozen foods etc. Cookbooks from the 50's have notoriously disgusting recipes. Different tastes.

My parents are both over 80. My mom's high school has a monthly lunch at Catfish Cabin in Monroe. One of their teachers was still coming to it up until three or four months ago.

Mine go to a seniors luncheon at the church once a month on a Tuesday. I went with them this past Tuesday. The main entree was some lousy chicken strips that the church takes care of. All of them bring vegetables and deserts. Most are home cooked.

I ate one chicken strip, two helpings of two different green bean casseroles, some corn casserole with rice, some other rice dish, some creamed corn, some mac & cheese, a roll, some homemade fruit cocktail, a quarter piece of chocolate pie and a quarter piece of cheese cake.

Will do what I can to make it next month too. Next time I'm going to skip the chicken.
