I don't think most people have the right personality to handle being a nurse (dealing with sick people and their family). For the subject matter itself, anyone with a non-liberal arts degree could handle it.

Someone I consider to be pretty smart struggled with the end of the schooling. He said the ICU class and final test was hard as shite

This just isn't true. Nursing school is extremely difficult. ANd I say that as a licensed engineer.

Everyone in La averages 33 on the ACT and goes to school to be brain surgeons

I think you hit the nail on the head. It requires a certain temperament. The aptitude threshold isn't what we pretend it to be though. I know some dumb chicks who couldn't figure out what to do with their lives so they became nurses.

For the majority of people in college, if you actually treat it as a job and put forth the effort, they are likely capable of graduating with any undergrad degree they choose.

I guess if some people "just don't get math" they wouldn't be able to get a science or engineering or math degree. Having said that, I have never met someone who actually put forth the effort and was not able to pass a math class with a bit of tutoring and help.

Because there are a lot of good things to say about nurses.
