Why do all banks have similar names?

Some combination of American, first, community, national, citizens, bankers bank, or farmers and mechants.

By law, a bank with a national charter (as opposed to a state chartered bank) must have the word "national" in its name or the initials "N.A." (meaning "National Association") in its name.

Because almost nobody is going to leave all their money at places with names like Ted's Frostop or Party City.

I have always been a fan of "Fifth Third Bank" I mean, WTF? Couldn't they have just called it "Fifteenth Bank"?

Fifth third is named for the intersection where it was started I believe.

The Third National Bank and the Fifth National Bank merged in the early 1900s.
