I remember the s2000 being described as the car to buy if you wanted to trick freshman co-ed's into thinking you drove a Porsche.

I always thought that was the Toyota MR2 Spyder

i sold cars so i ahve insight on this

unlike the miaita they were only sticks. 90% of the people that's a non starter there.

I don't understand how people buy an automatic miata / rx8

i am still to this day a certified mazda sales rep lol i loved mazdas and the Rx8 is the most fun car on earth to drive. there is nothing on earth like punching the gas on a rotary engine . if i had room here i'd buy one bu ti know i'd never drive it.

The S2000 was sold from 1999 to 2008. So almost its entire life span was spent during a time of the US economy wasn't in a great position. Add that to the fact that two seater convertibles aren't the most popular cars because of their impracticality.

Its a fun car to drive but it's not always a fun car to drive everyday. It has a fairly stiff suspension and their zero sound deadening in the car.

In 2004 they updated the model and the engine went from a 2.0 liter to a 2.2 L. The horse power stayed the same when he gave it a little more torque and red line drop from 9000 to 8000.

I had one of the first ones. It wasnt a car for most people. It was made by the Honda F1 team as a tribute car supposed to be limited run like 1-2 years. There was a waiting list very long to get one its first 2 years which is why they prob continued
The first cars drove like its f1 heritage. Rough suspension at very high rpms low to the ground. They were made more to live on an autoX track than on a city street.

Later year models they tried to make it appease to women drivers and they lowered rpm softened the suspension and sucked the soul outa that car.

I have met hundreds of s2000 owners when I had one and I never met or even heard of someone throwing a rod.

I had mine at 8800-9000 rpm many times. Honda won many awards for that engine. The HP they got out of that engine was remarkable.

There is a new S2000 coming. On my phone or I would post Honda's drawing of what the car should look like. I'm hoping it will be out sooner than later. If not then the Nismo 370Z Tech is tempting me.
