Spinoff from the JFK thread. I think this is the biggest mystery. No doubt Oswald killed JFK.

I've always heard JB was not too intelligent. Apparently, he thought he'd be hailed a national hero for avenging JFK.

Uh - there is some doubt. Although I believe he was involved in some way, I'm not certain he even fired a shot (although I haven't ruled it out, either).

Ruby, himself, said he was doing it to spare Jackie and the children from a prolonged public trial.

Then, he made all kinds of coy references to other forces at play - then shut up and died of cancer, in prison, at 56.

He had all sorts of shady connections. Occam's Razor says that what he said was the reason - that he saw the opportunity and acted, relatively impulsively.

Watching that film, though, it certainly looks like Oswald was being led out to slaughter. It's not like Ruby was a stranger - virtually every Dallas police officer knew him by sight. But, he was also a fixture at headquarters, so his presence wasn't likely to have caused immediate alarm - there were a lot of curiosity seekers and journalists there.

I once had a boss that was a student at SMU during the assasination. He and three buddies were at a restaurant downtown that night and one of his friends had one of the few papers from that evening (they had morning and night papers back then). There was one other guy in the restaurant. He came over and asked the guy if he could borrow the classifieds. They gave to him and he took them and came back thanking them for them. Few minutes later came back to ask to see them again...same thing, read and then returned. Came back again few minutes later to see them again...and then returned them thanking the guy and his friends and told them if they were ever out and wanted to have a good time to come by his club, gave them his card...it was Jack Ruby.

Always figured he was looking for some type of message on what to do next.

Agree 100%. If you watch the video it's obvious the shot hit Kennedy on the right front side of the head and exited through the left rear. At the time of impact, Oswald was directly behind the vehicle which would make the angle impossible to cause that wound.

Ruby was connected to the Mafia, both in Chicago and New Orleans. He was acting on orders of Sam Giancana, Carlos Marcello, or both. There's compelling evidence La Cosa Nostra was involved in the JFK assassination.

Because the mob killed JFK and they were able to end all questions once the had Ruby kill Oswald.

It was an inside job by the CIA and the head of the CIA was George Dubya!!

Bc, you know, JFK had a rigid neck and him turning his head right before impact is an impossibility

Ruby killed Oswald to shut him up. The mafia was behind Oswald shooting JFK. This was because Robert Kennedy declared war on the mafia not long after the mafia and their union/teamster influence helped get JFK elected. This pissed the mafia off as a whole. Then RFK deports Carlos Marcello by force and pushes him out of an airplane with a parachute in the jungles of Guatamala (his official bogus birth certificate was from there even though he was actually Sicilian) The mafia (mainly Carlos Marcello) had Ruby kill Oswald to shut him up about any connection to the mafia. Marcello knew Ruby had access to the Dallas Police Dept. Ruby ran the Caroussel Club in Dallas (mob owned by Marcello). They knew Ruby was a nut case and would be the perfect simpleton to carry out the plot and stay vague about his role. Read the book - Mafia Kingfish. It details everything.

Also check out the Discovery Channel for an episode about the JFK assassination. They have a show called The Smoking Gun that offers a compelling new groundbreaking theory about the JFK assassination that makes you reexamine the entire plot from a different perspective.

I believe the Mafia angle for sure. I think the whole thing was a combination of the Mafia angle (they had the motive) in combination with the Smoking Gun evidence that made this American tragedy unfold.

Ruby did it because he thought he'd be a hero. The guy was a narcissistic criminal and was very dumb.

I've heard he knew he was sick so he thought he'd do this to be remembered. But not sure if that's true.

Oswald was a Russian loving marksmen.
