I'm not trying to flame or anything, but I would like an honest real answer because i have been wondering. From what I have heard the shooter was finally dead three hours after he first begin his reign of terror. Why did this take so long?

Is there certain police protocol and their safety since they were outgunned. Why couldnt officers just jump in there when shots are constantly going off and bodies are falling...

Maybe someone here involved in law enforcement or something of this nature can help me. Again, I'm not in no way flaming Orlando PD in anyway, I just want to know reasons

It would have taken a lot of courage and initiative for one or two officers to enter the building, perhaps through another entrance. And a lot of luck to get to the guy. That didn't happen.

>>they were outgunned

The local SWAT team was definitely not outgunned, they were armed better than the murderer. But you don't want to charge into a bomb spraying nails either.

Reports are that they were also worried about booby traps. Apparently there were indications that the perp might have placed explosives specifically to stop LEO from charging in to save the day.

Why not take a few minutes and do a little research before getting on a chat board and asking questions?

This. The police went in almost immediately once they were there, and the perp retreated into a bathroom with 5-6 other people. More on that may be out now. But he retreated into the bathroom and made the phone calls, they thought that he may of had explosives so they tried to negotiate. I haven't seen what changed their mind to go in finally.

But the vast majority of people in the club were no longer in the gunman's sights not long after it started because he went into a bathroom.

Um he shot up over 50 people probably at that time. Even if he had hostages he lost all leverage by his actions at that point. He's clearly too evil to ration with.. I think it was more for concern of a possible bomb situation.

It's a lose lose situation but I think it's better to just
bumrush the shooter as soon as possible.

Less life will be lost in the long term. You can't negotiate
with these pricks.

Don't give him time to think....and shoot. Just kill the piece
of shite as soon as possible.

Didn't some of the hostages tell the police he had more people helping him as well. Thought I read something about him telling people he had a suicide bomber playing dead in the club and snipers outside too.

They had to give him time to call 911 and make several Facebook posts.

Otherwise how could they have connected him to Islamic terrorism and ISIS?

Law enforcement is smarter than you give them credit for.
