For example no one would argue that 2,374 is a 'cooler' number than 1000 in a conversational sense. Is it the way they trip off the tongue?

If you were selling an item, would you rather name it;

XJ2374

Or

XJ1000

I know, right? If I need to order a pizza I always order 10 instead of 1 because I don't want the guy taking my order to think I'm not cool.

Isn't starting a thread for every thought that pops in your head a bannable offense?

Well that's a really dumb question as well, but to answer it, I would MUCH rather XJ1000. That is much neater and rolls a lot better. If you would attempt to name something the XJ2374 in a round table meeting and it didn't have a specific meaning, everyone would look at you like a fricking retard. You would be tarred and feathered, as you should.

XJ2374 over XJ1000? Are you a fricking neanderthal?

Motorcycles are a good example of this. The displacement might be 239cc or 254cc but the bike will be called a '250.'

If I gave you a choice between a couple of jersey numbers, 99 or 62, which would you choose? That is what I am getting at. Is it symmetry? Ease of speaking? Other connotations?

I'd choose 27.

99 because it's associated with the GOAT.
