Who are they? For real. Never heard the names.

ETA, yeah no. Unless your part off this soccer fad that developed over the last 10 years for "cool"moms that didn't want their kids getting too much contact and wanted to be a soccer mom.

In all seriousness it's Babe Ruth. Less than 30 MLB teams, no 24 hour news or ESPN yet his name is still known by everyone in the English speaking world.

t's not about your living room. Americans don't understand how popular soccer is around the world...look at the World Cup, its popular on every continent. Formula 1 racing is huge also.

western movies are probably more popular worldwide than soccer. So I'll go with someone like Harrison Ford for his roles in everything, but mainly Star Wars which has a massive cult following. Then you have guys like DiCaprio, Clooney, Hanks, Cruise that are also recognizable world wide, hell even Seinfeld. There are large countries where the majority of the population doesn't give a shite about soccer due to bad domestic leagues and middling national teams. China, Japan, Indonesia, India, USA, Australia all come to mind as places where Soccer is down the pecking order in sports. Russia has hockey, India has cricket, China has basketball and baseball, Japan has baseball, Australia has rugby, Soccer is the dominant sport in Europe, South America, and "modern Africa"...but a lot of those same people have seen a Harrison Ford flick
