CISSP is a book test for anyone with IT or risk background. Find a couple of good books and you should pass.

CISA is a harder test

Very hard but being a CISA certainly helps with the cert. I took a boot camp too. There were 12 people, only 3 of us passed the first time. I don't know how I did but I passed. When taking the test I was certain I failed, even thinking about how I would really my boss halfway through it.

I would study as quickly as you can and not wait until boot camp. Someone else posted about Shon Harris book which I highly recommend. When you get to your boot camp study during lunch and break and every spare minute you have. Wake up early before class and study and study at night. Don't worry about making friends. You will get a giant stack of flash cards, I mean giant. Memorize all of them. There were some free tests online, they are good to study with but the questions are not framed like the test so don't depend on them. I swear the question on the test are designed to trick you. Good Luck!

agreed

only reason CISA may be "harder" is because they want you to know "the ISACA way", which in alot of cases makes zero real world sense. CISSP is much much more difficult as your required to be knowledgeable across many areas, CISA is IT audit.

Wat? I took it without studying and passed it. It's a joke if you have any experience in the field. Just pick all of the answers that equate to some form of "tell management" and you win. Unless you need it to pass HR resume filters, it's not even worth taking any more.

Please do not take Doggie Howser MDs advice. I've had 12 years of experience and it was still difficult. If you are just a mere mortal like myself, you will study your arse off.

Also, just wanted to add that Reddit has a good CISSP sub with lots of great advice.

The screams might be distracting though.

Ball gag.

EDIT: Goddammit. Didn't even notice that it was a bumped thread.

Congrats. It seems like a beast just because of how broad it is. Mile wide, inch deep kind of stuff.

Ain't that the truth

In case anyone else stumbles across this thread, my method was read the Sybex guide cover to cover, mark areas I wasn't confident on, then deep-dive on those using the Shon Harris tome. Studied about three months prior to taking the exam.
